NPUST and Tatung Sign Strategic Alliance Agreement

NPUST and Tatung Sign Strategic Alliance Agreement

As part of the NPUST Smart Agriculture initiative, the university is cooperating with Tatung on the development and application of greenhouse technology. The main objective of a newly inked alliance agreement is to apply temperature reducing technology, which was developed by Tatung, to the environmental control greenhouses built by NPUST to create a closed plant growth system with a simulated natural environmental. By controlling the factors related to plant growth, including light, environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, CO2 levels and wind), and nutrients (PH and EC) they can obtain important parameters for promoting crop growth and yield, which can serve as a reference for those in areas around the world where conditions are unfavorable to crop growth.

The temperature reduction technology developed by Tatung and the universities environmental controlled greenhouses, work to control the environment through the entire planting process according to plant characteristics. The system allows agriculturalists to reduce their reliance on pesticides; and by controlling the temperature, yields can be stabilized and the crop quality increased, thus providing the public with peace of mind and a product with greater economic value. This cooperation will also create more internship opportunities for students at the school, while offering new knowledge to the production sector; thus making the project an excellent example of the value that can be gained through industry-academia cooperation.
